Sample Student Enrollment Reporting and Progress Review Process

Results

Prior to the first Count Date (This example uses September 7)

Learning plan is developed:

Each student enrolled in an alternative learning experience course of study shall have a written student learning plan designed to meet the student’s individual educational needs.

Written Learning Plans must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Include beginning and end date.
  • Set an estimate of the average number of hours per week student will engage in learning activities to meet the requirements of the learning plan.
  • Specify how weekly contact requirements will be met.
  • Include learning goals and objectives.
  • Identify essential instructional materials.
  • Include timelines and methods of evaluation.
  • Be developed and monitored by certificated staff.
  • Include connection with EALRs and graduation requirements.

September 7

Effective Date of Plan, Count Date

FTE is based on expected average weekly hours in learning plan.

During September

Progress Review

Progress is satisfactory or not satisfactory.

If not satisfactory, keep track of actual hours in October.

October 1

Count Date

FTE is based on expected average weekly hours in learning plan.

During October

Progress Review

Progress is satisfactory or not satisfactory.

If Not Satisfactory for the second consecutive month:

  • Develop intervention plan and
  • Continue to keep track of actual hours in November.

November 1

Count Date

If satisfactory progress at October review, FTE is based on expected average weekly hours in learning plan.

If not satisfactory progress at October review for second consecutive month, FTE is based on actual average weekly hours from October.

During November

Progress Review

Progress is satisfactory or not satisfactory.

If not satisfactory for the third consecutive month:

  • Develop and implement more appropriate plan and
  • Continue to keep track of actual hours in December.

Annually

All students are assessed

Full-time students are assessed using state assessments.

Part-time students are assessed using state assessments unless they are exempted by law (students receiving home-based instruction and students enrolled in approved private schools.)
