  • WestSide's Night C.B.E. Program

Welcome! We hope your decision to enroll in the night program at Westside is a productive and beneficial one. We are glad to have you and will do our best to make your time here a true learning experience. If you ever have any questions about the program, please do not hesitate to ask.

What is C.B.E?  Contract-Based-Education is a program built around an academic contract.  The contract is between the teacher and the student.  The contract states the learning objectives, the work to be performed, and the evaluation process.  It also states the amount of time the student has to complete the work and the amount of credit to be granted for the work.  The student signs the contract, agreeing to the terms.  When the work is completed, the teacher signs the contract and files it in the student's folder.  Credit is granted.

To make sure you understand the academic and State of Washington requirements for the night program, we have listed them below. You will be asked to sign a document like this one, assuring us that you understand the rules and have read them. This document will then be placed in your student file.

    1. You must attend class for five hours per week.

There are no excused absences. If you miss school, you must make up the time missed within two weeks of the missed time.

    2. You must perform 20 hours of homework per week.

    3. You must keep track of your home study time on a timesheet.

A timesheet will be provided and you will be instructed by the paraprofessional on how the timesheet is to be completed. The timesheet is to be completed and signed once a month.

    4. You must complete a .5 in academic credit every three weeks.

If you do not complete a .5 in three weeks, you will be placed on Academic concern.

    5. If you get 20 hours behind in class hours, you will be dropped.

    6.  If you get behind in class hours, but not enough to get dropped, and if you do not do the required amount of homework per week, you may not qualify as a Full Time Equivalent, you could be dropped from the program.

You must make up your time.  You must complete the homework requirement.  If you cannot make up your time, or do your homework, we cannot keep you as a student.

Mr. Lynch is our English and Social Studies teacher.
